Retirement. What does it mean?  What should I be doing?

Retirement is personal.   Retirement means different things to different people.  The old days of "setting back and getting that old pension" is as outdated as an old time manual typewriter.  We are living longer and enjoying life longer.  We are even retiring earlier!

The parents of to day's baby boomer generation followed a simple rule:  retirement  started at age 65, and that meant you stopped working and started slowing down.  Today the average retirement age is 57.5 years, and slowing down means anything from a new career to world travel.  Retirement today means fulfillment, and the definition of fulfillment is as personal as it gets.  Your retirement plan should be tailored to your dreams as well.

But, there are some common concerns…some things that all of us face in retirement.  The two major issues are health and money…and they are certainly inter-related.  The bottom line is we all want, need and hope for enough retirement income to allow us to live our lives in the manner in which we define both retirement and fulfillment.

That is the central idea behind my Retirement Income Focus newsletter.  I will give you my insight, and the insight of others, into how you might be able to realize your retirement dream and live happily.  I will cover everything from planning to retirement income management.  I also welcome your questions and will address them as well.
